St. Croix Honeymoon

St. Croix U.S. Virgin Islands

St. Croix Honeymoon

  • Gallows Bay
  • Rainbow Beach

We’ll start our little tour of the U.S. Virgin Islands on the largest of them all, St. Croix. This tranquil island is home to the historic town of Christiansted that is characterized by its quaint stone buildings painted in different pastel hues.

Because of its Danish and African roots, it is one of the last remaining towns that still hold both influences quite strongly as evidenced by its architecture, design and feel. The streets are set up in such a way to be inviting for walking tours and radiate inward from the sea, creating a pleasing atmosphere for its many visitors.

People go to St. Croix for the exquisite crystal clear seas that make it a mecca for kayaking, scuba diving and snorkeling, there are plenty of reefs, walls, drop-offs and a myriad of marine life to see and the island is also home to some spectacular golf courses, botanical gardens and horseback riding centers.

Things to do in St. Croix

Buck Island Reef National Monument

Buck Island Reef National Monument

Buck Island Reef National Monument is located 1.5 miles off the coast of the island and is 880 acres of park, a mere 176 of those acres are on land, while the rest is set out in the glorious sea.

The intricate coral reef system with mazes, grottoes, underwater formations and marine gardens make it a must see on any trip to the Virgin Islands.

Snorkelers will love the underwater signposts that clearly mark the different trails and will marvel at the over 250 species of marine life that lives in this protected ecosystem.

If seeing marine life up close but not necessarily under the waves is more to your liking, then the Carmbola Tide Pools are worth a look.

Here you take a rainforest hike to the pools that are awash in sea life while watching the waves crash into the rocks. Swimming is allowed in the pools that are also home to various creatures, corals and tiny fish.

St Croix Honeymoon

Rainbow Beach

Rainbow Beach is just one glorious beach on the island of St. Croix and it boasts calm waters, warm sand and a great view of the sunset. There are places to snorkel just off the beach and watersports of all types to keep the fun going all day long.

Isaac Bay

Nothing says romantic more than a deserted windswept beach and Isaac Bay delivers just that. It is scenic and out of the way, so much so you have to hike or take a 4-wheeler to access it.

There is nothing but surf and sand on the beach, no amenities and no shady spots, but for snorkeling it is hard to beat as it has easy access to a spectacular barrier reef just off shore.
